I figured I’d wind the clock back to the spring of 1992 to pay tribute to David McGee, whom I befriended while living in Minneapolis. I photographed him for a documentary photography class at the Univeristy of Minnesota. He was always hard to track down, as he could be playing his cello in one of about a dozen spots around Minneapolis and St. Paul. He lived with different friends and this was a time before cell phones and texting, so he was almost impossible to reach.
While gathering material for this post, I ran across a movie made about him last year: http://vimeo.com/5984708.
David continued to play until last summer when he passed away at the age of 53.
